Child Price

Overview

Tourpaq can handle child pricing in two ways. Which behavior you get depends on a feature setting controlled by a super-admin.

• If Child Profit Margin is disabled, the child prices will work the same as before (it will be calculated like an extra bed discount).

• If Child Profit Margin is enabled, Tourpaq will use explicit child prices from the Price List (when those prices are set).

Only users with super-admin rights can enable/disable this feature.

Enable or disable Child Profit Margin (super-admin)

1. Log in as a super-admin.

2. Go to Users → Companies → (select company).

3. Open the Feature Access tab.

What changes when Child Profit Margin is enabled

When Child Profit Margin is enabled:

• If the Price List has a child price set (for the interval used in the booking), Tourpaq uses that value for the child.

  • The relevant Price List fields are typically ChildPrice1, ChildPrice2, ChildPrice3, or ChildPrice4 (depending on the interval).

• If the feature is enabled but no child price is set in the Price List, Tourpaq falls back to the old behavior.

FAQ

Q: What happens if a child turns 12 during the trip?

• A: Pricing is usually calculated based on the age at the time of departure. However, check the specific hotel contract rules, as some suppliers may require adult pricing if the age category changes during the stay.

Q: Can I manually change the child price after it has been calculated?

• A: Yes. You can use the "Manual Price" field or apply a specific discount code to adjust the final amount.

Q: Why is the system charging a child as an adult?

• A: This usually happens if the date of birth is missing, incorrect, or if the child is the second person in a double room (depending on the hotel's "Single + Child" policy).

Q: Does the child price include an extra bed?

• A: The system displays whether the price refers to an "Extra Bed" or "Sharing Bed" based on the room configuration selected in the 'Accommodations' tab.
