Child Price

Control child price calculation with the Child Profit Margin feature. Learn the super-admin setting, Price List child price fields (ChildPrice1–4), fallback logic, and troubleshooting.

Overview

Tourpaq can handle child pricing in two ways. Which behavior you get depends on a feature setting controlled by a super-admin.

  • If Child Profit Margin is disabled, child price is calculated using the legacy logic (similar to an extra bed discount / derived child discount).

  • If Child Profit Margin is enabled, Tourpaq uses explicit child prices from the Price List (when those values exist).

What changes when Child Profit Margin is enabled

When Child Profit Margin is enabled:

  • If the Price List has a child price set (for the interval used in the booking), Tourpaq uses that value for the child.

    • The relevant Price List fields are typically ChildPrice1, ChildPrice2, ChildPrice3, or ChildPrice4 (depending on the interval).

  • If the feature is enabled but no child price is set in the Price List, Tourpaq falls back to the old behavior.

FAQ

chevron-rightWhat happens if a child turns 12 during the trip?hashtag

Pricing is usually calculated based on age at departure.

Check the hotel contract rules if the supplier changes age category during the stay.

chevron-rightCan I manually change the child price after it has been calculated?hashtag

Yes.

Use Manual Price or apply a discount code to adjust the final amount.

chevron-rightWhy is the system charging a child as an adult?hashtag

Most common causes:

  • missing/incorrect date of birth

  • the rooming setup triggers adult pricing (for example “Single + Child” policies)

chevron-rightDoes the child price include an extra bed?hashtag

It depends on room configuration.

Tourpaq shows whether the child is priced as Extra Bed or Sharing Bed based on the room setup.
